The I-85 corridor in Greensboro is one of the most heavily traveled and frequently congested sections of Interstate in North Carolina. A key intersection along that corridor is the South Elm-Eugene Street area located south of downtown Greensboro.

Lake Higgins is a 226-acre waterway that supplies clean water to the city while also being a valuable resource for recreation, fishing and birding opportunities within the city limits. Lake Brandt, at 816 acres, is also a critical watershed for the city.
